Gardener's Supply CompanyEcosystems are interactions between plants, animals, and microorganisms and their environment working  together as a functioning unit. Ecosystems in nature work the same way. All the parts work together to make a balanced system. An ecosystem is a community of living and non-living things that work together. Ecosystems have no particular size. An ecosystem can be as large as the earth or a lake or as tiny as a tree . No community can carry more organisms than its food, water, and shelter can accommodate. Food and territory are often balanced by natural things such as fire, disease, and the number of predators. Each organism has its own niche, or role, to play. The major parts of an ecosystem are soil, atmosphere, heat and light from the sun, water and living organisms.

Soil is a must of an ecosystem. It provides important nutrients for the plants. It helps anchor the plants to keep them in place. Soil absorbs and holds water for plants and animals to use and provides a home for lots of living organisms. Ecosystems will fail if the soil doesn't have the right nutrients, the plants will die. If the plants die, animals that depend on them will die. If the animals that depend on the plants die, any animals that depend on those animals will die. Ext...

The atmosphere provides oxygen and carbon dioxide for the plants and animals. It is also part of the water cycle. Without the complex interactions and elements in the atmosphere, there would be no life at all. The sun's heat helps water evaporate and return to the atmosphere where it is cycled back into water. The heat also keeps plants and animals warm. Without light from the sun there would be no photosynthesis and plants wouldn't have the energy they need to make food. Water is a large percentage of the cells that make up all living organisms. Without water all life would die.

-Pest Control: controlling harmful insects without synthetic pesticides

Eco Raised Garden Beds Are:
-for gardeners with poor soil. The basic idea of an eco raised garden bed is that you   have control over soil texture and ingredients.
-warm more quickly, allowing you to plant earlier in spring
-drain better
-require less maintenance than a conventional garden

-
are easier to access your plants
-are the most popular type of eco raised garden bed. You can plant vegetables, herbs, and fruit such as strawberries ect..

Managing the Soil, Most Important Step For all Garden Beds

The whole purpose of an eco raised flower or vegetable garden bed is it gives you the opportunity to garden in perfect soil. If your soil is not rich you might as well not eco garden at all. Your eco garden will grow, but it will not mature into healthy produce such as it would in rich soil.

Soil is a major key to a successful eco gardener no fertilizers, pesticides or GMO's. In your eco raised garden bed you will want to fill it with rich super soil. Most grocery stores usually have this or a greenhouse will. Or you may choose to purchase some from a local farmer. Either way is fine.

As an eco raised garden bed is about gardening organically it is essential to use natural fertilizers. Such as organic Bone Meal, this will promote the growth of your plants. Lime is also a good practice to add to your garden , stunted growth and yellowed leaves can indicate your soil is too acidic for plants to absorb the nutrients they need for healthy growth. Adding lime will bring the pH levels into a more neutral range. Top-quality organic Lime, reacts quickly, yet gently pelletized for easy application. These products are totally organic, and by far less costly then fertilizers we know nothing about. Compost is about the best thing you can add to garden beds.

Recycle Garden Waste

Composting is the key to successful garden management. There’s nothing more satisfying than producing sweet-smelling home-made compost. simply by throwing a lot of unwanted vegetation in a composter. Once you start turning kitchen waste, grass cuttings, garden waste, ripped-up newspaper, fallen leaves, shredded sticks and pruning’s into valuable mulch, you’ll never burn or throw out garden rubbish again.
