Growing inside herbal garden
Posted On 26-10-2009 , 11:37 AM
During the winter time I like to do a few gardening projects. I like to plant herbs in planters herbs like oregano, parsley, basil etc... Did you ever see the prices they want for these herbs? I save money and get fresh herbs. Plus it is something I enjoy to do! I also planted some nice echinacea in my garden. So now I am letting it dry out. I am going to attempt making tea leaves. Echinacea has medicinal purposes, it is very good to relieve colds like symptoms. This year I would like to try a little hydroponic garden. I am interested to see how this method works. It can be my newest gardening experience. Dandeny!

Canning our produce
Posted On 21-10-2009 , 2:39 PM
This is another part of fall that is very hectic! Now that we have all this nice produce, what are we going to do with it. Blanching and freezing our produce is quite easy to do and requires very little work. Canning on the other hand is a little more time consuming. Learning how to do it and the proper equipment to use is a must. You know what I love about canning it is the feeling of satisfaction you get when you serve it to your dinner guests. You can proudly boast, "Oh yes, I made these delicious dill pickles!"... or beets, or carrots, whatever you decided to make. Plus, you know exactly what ingredients are in your canning products, there is no need to read a label. No wondering what is this ingredient? I never even heard of it. That is the part you want to know, exactly what you are eating.

Fall gardening is important
Posted On 15-10-2009 , 4:06 PM
Summer gardening I love the best because you can grow fresh vegetables, like tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, etc. However, fall gardening is the most important for preparing your flower gardens & vegetable garden. Planning your garden for next year is very impotant. Now is the time to use your composting to prepare your soil. Also, it is time to plant your favorite bulbs like tulips, daffodills, hyacinths etc. Think of it this way, it is like preparing for a big event, when all is said and done come early spring you'll sit back and enjoy your beautiful flowers. I, myself, love hyacinths, their fragrance is out of this world. After this is all prepared Mother Nature takes care of the rest. Sun, rain and time !

Eco summer gardening

I love summer gardening! I mostly concentrate on vegetable gardening. Fresh produce from your garden is the best! At least you know exactly what you are eating. There is nothing like picking fresh onions and lettuce to make a nice salad. They are so delicious! I got so much produce out of my little garden this year, carrots, beets, peppers, beans, peas etc. Needless to say, I had alot! Actually, I also have apple trees, I think they are Spartan apples, they are red with yellowish stripes. The trees were already here when we bought our home, so we are trying to identify them, which I don't think should be too difficult. Fruit trees are wonderful, they look nice in the spring when they are all in flower and there is nothing like picking a fresh apple from a tree! I hang little bird feeders in my apple trees they are beautiful. Humming bird feeders are my favourite.

I love gardening it is my biggest passion! When I garden I use Mother Nature, she is my best friend. I collect water in my rain barrel, to water my garden. I compost as much as I can. I use products such as lime to sweeten the earth along with my compost. Bone meal is good to help plants grow healthier and produce more. If you use natural ingredients there is no need for pesticides or chemicals. We all have to be careful on the products we use, in order to keeping our world as green as possible. Everything we do we are accountable for! Gardening is a great pass time. At the end when all is done you have a sense of pride on what you have accomplished. Lady bug shoes are my favorite gardening shoes, they are cute and are easy to clean.
