Every Garden...

Real Goods Solar, Inc. deserves proper lighting, so you can also enjoy your plants in the evening. One year I bought some Christmas solar lights I thought how cool is that. The only problem with that is,in the winter months you require more sunlight for them to work. So in the spring my daughter looks outside and my lights were lit. We all got a chuckle out of that. Plus my neighbours teased me a bit on that one too. Needless to say, I took them out of the tree and put them inside my gazebo. Nobody is laughing at me now, they all think that they are gourgeous and that they are! Dandeny!

Hyacinth's Aroma

Posted On 25-02-2010 , 12:13 PM

Hyacinth's are a must to any spring garden. I love Hyacinth's so much I gave my youngest daughter Hyacinth as her middle name. I prefer Hyacinth's as a spring flower,  becuase they smell so good. I planted my Hyacinth's along my front walkway, going to the entrance of our front door. As people come to visit they always comment on how they get such a beautiful aroma  before they get to front door. I like flowers that are beautiful but at the same time give a fragrance as you're walking by. You do not have to pick them or bend down and sniff them to acquire a scent. There is nothing more beautiful then walking through a flower garden that gives a beautiful aroma like the hyacinth's do. Most people plant their bulbs in the fall, but I have had great success with them in the spring also. Dandeny!

Zucchini Appetizer

Posted On 23-02-2010 , 7:31 AM

Shop Taste of HomeZucchini is another vegetable I like to plant in my organic garden. When I harvest it in the fall, I shred it, put it in containers and freeze it. I have a good recipe for a zucchini appetizer. This appetizer has to be frozen before you heat it up and serve it. It came in handy this week. My sister came over for a surprise visit, so of course my appetizer came in handy. I always have one made for these kind of surprise visits. If you would like the recipe go to about.com.. It is similar to my appetizer recipe, just a few spices are a little different.  Dandeny! Primrose Forever

Posted On 19-02-2010 , 7:05 PM

Primrose is another plant you will have forever. I planted some primrose in my flower garden one year not knowing it's full potential. This plant spreads and grows like wildfire. I love the blossoms of pale yellow and creamy white, this unusual Primrose lilac is beautiful on its own, and simply breathtaking among your purple and blue lilacs  It comes up first in the spring, and is the last to die in the fall. They are a real showcase, and their fragrance is out of this world. This plant is very low in manitenance and requires very little watering. They thrive in sunny areas, although the ones I have in shade do just as well. If you have a large void spot you want to fill I recommend this plant. It will spread and grow for you forever.Dandeny!

Grow Bags

Posted On 17-02-2010 , 7:50 PM

Grow bags are a way of gardening for people who live in confined spaces like apartments, or have very little room to actually plant a garden .I had a friend years back, and on our lunch break we would talk about gardening. She told me she grew her garden in bags. I did not say a thing. One day she invited me over after work, so I went. Wow! was I shocked to see her bag gardening. She had grown some beautiful produce for her and her son. Which only goes to show anything is possible. It all depends on how bad you want it. I haven't spoken to her in years. Every year when I drive by her house I remember her bag garden's. She also grew lettuce, onions and radishes in balcony baskets. It was so cute to see. For two people it was perfect. Dandeny!
