                                             Eco Energy Savings Tips

As we are all becoming more aware on how important it is to try to do our best, to keep our world green, there are a few tips we could all apply. To start one simple thing, is changing light bulbs to energy saving ones. Last winter we changed our electric furnace to a high efficiency gas one. What a difference this made on our hydro cosumption. We also replaced our gas fireplace insert to a high efficiency one. It made a difference on our gas bill. Not a huge difference like the furnace though. Now there are so many programs to get cash back for doing such things. There are homelines , income tax incentives, which is encouraging to make a change. Last year my hydro bill was $289.00 a month on budget. I just received my new hydro budget billing, it is now going to be $127.00 a month. This is a huge savings into our pocket. Plus we will be getting back money through our income tax. Just by doing things like this will make a difference on the green earth side and in your pocket.

You might laugh at this one, but it does work. Put a 20 ounce water bottle in your toilet tank if you cannot afford to buy a water saver toilet. This will save on water consumtion. Changing your shower head will also reduce the amount of water you use. I also started washing clothes in coldwater. Many people do not like washing heavy soiled clothes, or clothes that have stains  in cold water. Solution to that is ¼ cup of baking soda in the wash. It removes grass stains, blood stains any stain you could think of. Very eco friendly way to wash. You also save money on all those stain removers that are not so eco friendly.
